About Second Summer Cycle

Second Summer Cycle, which held its first ride in 2023,  is a non profit charity cycling event that benefits multiple Cape Cod nonprofits. With safety as our top priority, the ride spans multiple towns and has 4 distances, all of which start and end in the Mid Cape area. A celebration with food trucks and cold brews await riders, volunteers and their families/friends at the finish.

Overview

Second Summer Cycle is the perfect event for riders of all levels, offering a picturesque journey through 8 historic Cape Cod towns and a strong commitment to rider safety. Four distances are being offered, 15, 34, 60, and 101 miles. The start and finish is at beautiful Smugglers Beach in South Yarmouth where there will be a Finish Line Celebration from 12PM-4PM, including local beer, food trucks and live music.

Starts and Finishes: Starts and finishes will be at staggered times starting at 7:00AM from Smugglers Beach in South Yarmouth.

Safety

Safety: We will have marshals at key turns  to help guide riders, while motorcyclists will be patrolling the entire course.


Support services: Bike shops will be represented along the course to help with any technical issues. There will also be SAG (support and gear) vehicles to help riders who need support or a pickup along the course.


Hydration and Nutrition: Ample hydration and nutrition stops will be strategically positioned along the course, along with medical and physical therapy stations equipped with tents and tables to ensure participants' comfort and well-being. The Hydration and Nutrition stops will be approximately every 15 miles.


Medical and Physical Therapy: There will be medical and physical therapy support at the Hydration and Nutrition stops.

Beneficiaries

20 Cape Cod non-profit organizations will benefit from the monies generated by the riders, each of whom is asked to raise at least $250 for their non-profit of choice, or to be distributed to all participating charities, in addition to the registration fee.


Beneficiaries: All money raised by the riders will be paid directly to the beneficiaries. Each beneficiary team is expected to raise a minimum $5,000.


Finish Line Celebration

The Finish Line Celebration will take place from 12PM-4PM at Smuggler's Beach. You will be able to dance to the music of a great local band and you'll have $30 in vouchers to use at food and beverage trucks as part of your registration fee.


Changing your clothes at the finish:

Public restrooms are on site.
